HOT CRUSH

We’ve had a sweet spot for The Bon Ton Resort for a few years now. It is the type of gem that, frankly, we’d almost have preferred to keep all for ourselves. However, the secret is officially out now: it has recently been voted best luxury hotel in the world by The Sunday Times Travel Magazine. Hidden away in a peaceful corner of Langkawi, each of its eight villas are actually 100-year-old kampong houses. Made in the traditional Malay style, the huts are all uniquely decorated with intricate carvings and vibrant colours. In fact, the resort was built on the grounds of an old coconut plantation and has maintained its breezy laid-back feel – the perfect alternative to the bigger resorts on the island. Authentic and intimate, yet totally luxurious.
