WILLIAM EGGLESTON – BLACK AND WHITE TO COLOR
2022-01-10Eggleston is one of the most celebrated pioneers of color photography. He rose to prominence in 1976 with a solo exhibition of color work at the Museum of Modern Art. Known for exploring the photographic possibilities discovered in the ephemeral and seemingly insignificant everyday life, Eggleston’s work presents colors, forms, and familiar objects and scenes, through a different lens rendering them complex and fascinating.
Black and White to Color spans over different periods of Eggleston’s career. It includes a rare group of early silver gelatin prints that formed and shaped the foundation of his aesthetic, vintage color prints, a large collection of chromogenic prints from his Democratic Forest series, several iconic dye-transfers, as well as his most recent archival pigment prints.
