RASSVET X HI-TEC
2019-04-25Rassvet returns with its 5th collection this spring, featuring new collaborative product with iconic sportswear brands Russell Athletic & Hi-Tec, as well as a men’s wardrobe basics such as denim, straight pants and striped shirts, which have been introduced to present a full Rassvet silhouette for the first time.
The collection features a graphic collage lifted from the team’s scribbled research for new logos, reworked and re-appropriated as an all over print seen on multiple pieces. It also stays true to Rassvet’s skate roots, offering six decks in a variety of sizes and colour blocked graphics as well as new set of logo t-shirts for OKTYABR, their skate shop which has invigorated Moscow’s youth scene since it opened last summer.
For the collaborations (coming in the first drop), the Russell Athletic logo was hijacked and reinterpreted as Rassvet Athletic, whilst Hi-Tec’s bold graphics are displayed alongside discreet Rassvet co-branding.
The collaboration with Russell Athletic stays true to the American brand’s heritage as inventor of the first sweatshirt and major supplier of jersey uniforms and apparel, which inspired the varied sweatshirt shapes bearing sports team graphics, which feature prominently in the capsule.
Rassvet also present their first venture into footwear, an unexpected play on the Squash shoe, originally invented by British company Hi-Tec in 1974. The gum rubber and full grain nubuck toe box design of this classic model offers excellent grip support, which is as essential in Squash as in skateboarding.
Lastly, the new label, which reads RASSVET NE ZA GORAMI, reminds us of their optimistic motto: “The sunrise is not far behind the mountain”.
