ALPHATHETA DDJ-FLX2 DJ CONTROLLER

Posted on 2024-10-21

AlphaTheta has launched its first entry-level DJ controller, four years after it changed its name from Pioneer DJ and having announcing its intentions to do so earlier this year.

The new DDJ-FLX2 is aimed at DJs that are just getting started and becomes the brand’s latest budget option, following on from the Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 from 2022. The controller is surprisingly versatile for its price and users have a wide range of options when it comes to both the hardware and the software they choose to use with it. Smartphones, tablets and computers are all compatible, as well as certain music streaming services like including Apple Music that can be accessed via the Algoriddim djay app. Users can also choose to use other popular DJ apps rekordbox or Serato DJ Lite.

In terms of ports, the DDJ-FLX2 has a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack port for headphones, another for speakers, and a USB-C port for connecting a music source.

Posted on 2024-10-07

The round clock comes in the iconic Nintendo red shade and features motion sensors, allowing it to respond to a variety of cues.

One can snooze the clock with just a single motion while getting out of bed will turn it off entirely. Alarmo uses sounds from classic Nintendo games to wake the user up, with sounds from Legend of Zelda, Super Mario and more.

The sounds start off gentle but will get louder as the alarm continues to ring. The clock’s face will also show characters from the game of one’s choosing. The longer they stay in bed, however, the more intense the alarm’s rings will get.

TAKU OBATA – B BOY SEIDOU

Posted on 2024-09-23

A b-boy holds his form forever in a bronze sculpture by Taku Obata.

With his dynamic sculptures, Taku Obata demonstrates an understanding of the human body as a finely-balanced instrument. B BOY SEIDOU transforms the interlocking planes of one of his chiselled wooden dancers into painted bronze (seidou) – monochromatic, to emphasise the rakish angles and parallel planes within his pose. The b-boy’s oversized hat, balanced precariously on his head, and futuristic visor, extending far beyond his face, are both recurring motifs in Taku’s sketches and sculptures.

Edition of 25.
