TIFFANY & CO. TIFFANY AIRWAYS AIRPLANE CLOCK

Posted on 2024-08-19

Constructed out of stainless steel painted Tiffany Blue, the 6.6 lb (3 kg) with the baseAirways clock is modeled after airplanes from the 1930s. The clock uses a skeletonized approach to form an exposed cockpit, juxtaposing the elegance of the piece with its industrialized mechanics.

Two steel disks at the nose of the plane rotate to display the hour and minute, powered by mechanics located within the plane’s engine, as an arrow in the cockpit points to the current time. The Airways clock also features a “TCO” monogram on the wing, functioning wheels and a propeller that can be rotated by hand.

Tiffany offers two ways to display the clock: it can stand on its two wheels or be fixed to a base to imitate the look of the plane in a mid-air flight.

UMBRO X CHILDREN OF THE DISCORDANCE

Posted on 2024-08-12

Japanese label Children of the Discordance has united with Umbro on a seven garment collection that draws from the sportswear giant’s ’90s silhouettes. Founded by Hideaki Shikama in 2011, Children of the Discordance is known for creating sophisticated upcycled garments that draw on Shikama’s personal collection, along with archival vintage pieces from around the world.

Shikama’s latest collection is notably inspired by Umbro’s line of football apparel from the ’90s, particularly the Eric Cantona-led Manchester United teams, whose logo has been redesigned to say “Children of the Discordance”, as well as an emphasis on split designed tops and bottoms that juxtapose technical fabrics and all-over prints with denim, cable wool jumpers and patchwork designs.

JORDAN WEST – TENSION

Posted on 2024-08-12

KÖNIG TELEGRAPHENAMT presents a solo exhibition by the American artist Jordan West. His paintings and works on paper delve deep into the nuances of our contemporary reality. They mostly exclude human presence entirely and seem to view the world from a posthuman perspective. In some works, like HOTEL (2022) and SOLITUDE (2023), West subtly hints at human presence through lit lamps and the headlights of a lone car.

The scenes depicted by West are distinctly contemporary and thus rooted in a specific time. Reduced and clarified to collective, nonspecific descriptions of place and experience, they are stylized representations of reality, memory, and narrative.
