O YUKI CONJUGATE – ARTEFACTS

Posted on 2021-04-26

Kynant EX is a new series for non-dancefloor focused records on hand-stamped vinyl. The first release comes from a legendary UK band, O Yuki Conjugate, who have been making unique experimental music since 1982. The duo have reworked their 2019 album track “Forgotten Summer” into a two-part, 12m45s epic, which starts broken-beat and ends with a five minute beatless sequence. The B-side houses two new tracks, the first is abrasive and full of dread, the second a bass-heavy ambient cut.

UNIVERSAL COLOURS VOLUME 3

Posted on 2021-04-26

Cycling label Universal Colours returns with its third full collection since its debut last summer.

Aptly entitled “Volume 3”, the collection is a continuation of the brand’s vision in design and expert use of performance fabrics, utilising premium recycled materials and arriving in a fresh and complimenting color palette.

The brand’s outlook and expression is reflected in its Spectrum jerseys which arrive in “Polygon Blue” and “Cubic Brown” iterations, while more subtle takes, bib shorts and accessories round out the collection.

FUSION X FUTURA LABORATORIES

Posted on 2021-04-26

FILA CHINA has teamed up with the renowned artist to merge its FUSION line with the latter’s FUTURA LABORATORIES clothing label.

A streetwear extension of the brand’s sporting heritage, FILA FUSION explores the relationship between fashion and art for this latest collection. Comprised of an array of apparel including T-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts as well as a selection of accessories, this exclusive collaboration sees the two entities channel nature’s various elements.

Using white as its canvas, the range adopts a color-blocking aesthetic with flashes of color inspired by the universe, air, water, earth and fire, interpreted by FUTURA through dots and lines resembling water droplets and brush strokes.

KONRAD WEHRMEISTER – OUS

Posted on 2021-04-26

Setting out with two tracks on the more esoteric ambient tip (‘80L’ feels like a hazy dream sequence moving through a Sheffield warehouse party in ‘95 at quarter speed), it nosedives into Senking – tripping, staunch techno in the more familiar Ilian realms. TR10 is a deeper dancefloor cut, with pensive synths moving over softly splayed breaks. Onoff is a darker introversion of delicately detuned synth melodies, with Patty closing out on redemptive pads and modular white noise waves.

JACK SMOOTH – PH SCALES 3

Posted on 2021-04-26

It’s an acid house marvel how scene-legend-since-day-one Ron Wells aka Jack Smooth can stay innovative with as few tools as possible. In keeping with the overall tone of PH Scales one and two (also on Further Electronix) our man Smooth toys with the fundamentals on the series’ third instalment. The 808s still thump and the hand is still firmly set on the bass modulator, as opening track ‘Dreamstate’ delivers a heavenly harp-like circular rhythm throughout. With the noted exception of ‘Make Tracks’ — a classic, pummelling acid number — there’s an icy fog layered across this EP, showing that Smooth’s minute changes make all the difference.
