NICOLAS BOUGAÏEFF REMIXES

Nicolas Bougaïeff has released a selection of remixes ahead of the launch of his forthcoming album, The Upward Spiral.

Japanese born, Berlin based Kosei Fukuda, British producer Sam KDC, Din-ST aka Frederic Stader and British techno artist Benjamin Damage individually take either the creeping mutation of ‘Nexus’ or the nosebleed kicks and synth bleeps of ‘Thalassophobia’ as their starting point for this four-track EP.

TREVOR PAGLEN – TERRITORY

Trevor Paglen’s new photographs position the origins of computer vision, facial recognition, and artificial intelligence in the tradition of landscape photography of the American West. Examining histories of seeing in relation to technological advancements, Paglen reveals underlying structures of power and the changing role of the image.
Capturing dramatic vistas shot around Yosemite, Black Canyon, the California Coast, and other iconic landscapes, Paglen refers to classic works by Muybridge, O’Sullivan, Watkins, Hillers, and other 19th century “frontier” photographers. While we often encounter these historical referents in a museum setting today, many of these seminal images were originally produced for the US Department of War on military “reconnaissance” surveys and are embedded with the colonial narratives of Western Expansion. What would a contemporary iteration of frontier photography reveal about our current structures of power?

THROWING SNOW – THE FOLLY OF PANGLOSS

On his new project, Tones said “These tracks an unashamedly built for the Summer. Simple, cut-up samples and bounce. As they are a big departure from my previous and forthcoming releases, I’ve embraced their tongue in cheek nature and I’m releasing them as Snowing Throw.”

Speaking about “The Folly of Pangloss” track he went on to explain “Voltaire’s Pangloss was blindly optimistic in the face of reality. This track is his folly. It is only the ‘best of all possible worlds’ if we actively endeavour to make it so.”
