DAIDO MORIYAMA X WACKO MARIA

Posted on 2019-07-08

Comprising six styles, the garments are all printed on white or black heavyweight crewneck sweaters and T-shirts to emphasize Moriyama’s artwork, which appears on the front of the tees and rear of the sweaters. The photographs range from shots of palm trees on a beach to flyers for call girls and sexually-charged films. One print showcases a neon sign for nudes (written in Japanese Katakana), while another displays a picture of a presenter sitting in front of a wall of traditional art.

NINA KRAVIZ – STRANNO NEOBJATNO

Posted on 2019-07-08

Nina Kraviz’s best music tends to have a hall of mirrors-like quality. Kraviz classics such as ‘Pochuvstvui’ and ‘Ghetto Kraviz’ are constantly re-obscuring themselves – the moment that they appear ready to reveal their secrets is the same moment that they retreat away. The tracks on the producer’s new EP Stranno Neobjatno have that same wily quality about them. These are minimal techno jacks full of mystery and intrigue.

Opening cut ‘Dream Machine’ is very much in the vein of the other work Kraviz has released through her TRIP imprint. Lilting at around 120-bpm, the undulating groove is punctuated by icy stabs of synth and a typically enigmatic vocal loop from Kraviz. The remainder of Stranno Neobjatno quickens the pace. ‘I Want You’ is the most forthright thing Kraviz has released in a while, and that’s not just down to the title – this urgent, slightly frantic techno tool contains some arresting coldwave synth work. Stranno Neobjatno’s title track keeps the energy high with its sighing vocals and alien synth gurgles.

Y-3 FYW S-97

Posted on 2019-07-08

Y-3’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection entirely reframes the collaboration between adidas and Yohji Yamamoto, creating a space for the German athletics pioneer and the Japanese designer to reinterpret each other’s most iconic design codes. This yields the season’s most directional footwear—shoes that are boldly progressive while remaining rooted in the adidas archive.

The Y-3 FYW S-97 is Yamamoto’s reimagining of a foundational adidas style, the Salvation, which was one of the first running silhouettes to utilize Feet You Wear technology. The Y-3 FYW S-97 presents this archival style elevated with modern adidas technologies, including Primeknit, which wraps the foot in an engineered fit, and BOOST, adidas’ most responsive cushioning which delivers incredible energy return.

The innovative design offers a flexible, multi-layer upper embroidered with the Yohji Yamamoto signature, as well as suede and leather details at its heel and forefoot. Its unique black-and-white midsole, which hearkens to the Salvation, features cut-outs that offer a glimpse of the powerful Boost technology contained within.

Available in two color combinations, white/black/off-white and black/white, the Y-3 FYW S-97 will drop on July 18th at Y-3 flagship stores, Y-3.com, and select retailers worldwide.
