M?HR – INSIDE THE ATOM EP

Posted on 2017-05-29

Circlens comes to its third release, Inside The Atom EP, produced by M?hr, a quite young Italian project with an EP released on Curle Recordings behind him. The EP consists of 3 original tracks and a remix by My Flower, who have first released on the label. The first track, “Inside the Atom”, is a match of percussions, strong bassline and a bit of acid, although the serious touch of the producer is definitely not missing. Radial is a solemn journey. A floating melody and a religious pad join a very solid structure made of heavy percussions. Finally “Lope”, certainly the most dance floor friendly out of the three. A redundant melody and an obscure pad meet a very groovy drum. Well known My Flower, eventually, takes Radial to a rave level, giving new consistency to the percussions and an even more intriguing theme.

SASHA: RE-FRACTED

Posted on 2017-05-24

Using his album ‘Scene Delete’ as the starting point, Sasha, the irrefutable trailblazer of House, along with his key collaborators, promised and presented a career defining, reworked live experience at The Barbican.

Having DJed to all kinds of crowds over the past 20 years, from raves in fields with hundreds of thousands of people to intimate venues with a couple of hundred people, Sasha found performing his music at The Barbican an exciting and terrifying opportunity, ‘I never thought that this would be something that I’d be involved in or get to do…To be offered the chance to perform my music at this iconic venue was something that I could not turn down.’

An unforgettable moment was the encore performance of ‘Xpander’, a larger than life favourite, that to many defines Sasha and his sound. The energy and atmosphere created from ‘Xpander’ alone was beyond words.

‘Sasha: re-Fracted’ was an electrifying night with vocalists, synths, an eight-piece string section, an orchestral percussionist and drum machines coming together to create an evening full of nostalgia, power and passion.

PHOTO LONDON

Posted on 2017-05-22

For the third year running Photo London, the international photography fair, took over Somerset House presenting installations, special exhibitions and a Talks Programme, bringing together photographers, curators and the public to celebrate and explore photography. With eighty-nine galleries involved from all over the world, the fair was full of rare vintage pieces, new work from emerging talent and classic images from the masters.

Work ranged from artists including William Eggleston, Bruce Weber and Helmut Newton as well as Maisie Cousins, Mona Kuhn and Miles Aldridge. Highlights included Taryn Simon’s interactive ‘Image Atlas’ that played with online image search results, Lee Friedlander’s ‘Chain Link’ series made up of 41 beautiful black and white photographs, David Hurn’s ‘Swaps’ curated by Martin Parr and Juergen Teller’s special exhibition featuring his iconic video installation, ‘Dieter.’

Teller also appeared in Photo London’s Talks Programme along with several other leading figures including Bruce Davidson, Kathy Ryan and William Klein. Teller spoke about upcoming projects with Araki and shared secrets about his past experiences. It was amazing to get up close to Teller and listen to him talk so openly and freely about himself and his work.

As the UK’s largest photography event, Photo London was once again overflowing with inspiration and ideas.
