CALL GIRL

Posted on 2013-08-12

Call Girl is set in the late 1970s – a time time of women’s liberation, sexual revolution, Swedish neutrality, nuclear power and social security. The film takes us on a trip from the very bottom of society, along dark back streets, through glitz and glamour, to the corridors of power which are a labyrinth of secrets. The story is inspired by a Swedish political scandal known as Bordellhärvan which linked underage prostitution with powerful customers believed to come from the highest levels of society.

That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Thevideo was shot in a day in Almeria, Spain. “We shot on the old sets for Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in the West,” Wheatley says. “It was quite an experience. The sun is so bright and strong (I’ve just shot four features in a row in the UK; that kind of thing impresses me!) The mountains look amazing and everywhere you look you feel the vibe of the spaghetti westerns (they actually pipe the Morricone music in on loudspeakers so it’s impossible not to feel it).”

The video stars Simon Smith who also appeared in Wheatley’s Down Terrace film. The crew were also regular Wheatley collaborators with Nick Gilespie shooting, Andy Kelly art directing, Charlotte Hayward on make-up and Andy Starke and Claire Jones producing. The track is taken from Editors fourth studio album ‘The Weight Of Your Love’.
