BURBERRY DAY IN NEW YORK CITY

Mayor Bloomberg has declared Thursday, May 28th, as Burberry Day in New York City. The proclamation coincides with the official lighting of the Burberry logo on the rooftop of the new Burberry Americas headquarters at 444 Madison Avenue. The new 68,000 square foot headquarters opened in April 2009. To celebrate Burberry Day, 20% of all purchases made in Burberry New York stores at 57th Street and Spring Street in SoHo on the day will be donated to The Burberry Foundation. Burberry also announced plans for two new Manhattan stores that will open at the end of October, 2009.

AWAYDAYS

Highly coveted film Awaydays is now out in cinemas and to celebrate the coming to reality of Kevin Sampson’s novel adidas have created a limited edition sneaker. Only 100 pairs will come as a box set complete with a signed and numbered copy of the book, a DVD containing exclusive footage and the sneakers, wrapped in an image of the pack with a quote from Kevin on the project.

LV UNDERGROUND

Louis Vuitton recently opened their new temporary /underground/ store in Tokyo. The store is completely different in terms of interior than other Vuitton spaces and takes a more raw and industrial approach. Overall a very interesting concept and new route for the French luxury goods company.

THE WORLD IS YOURS

Lawrence Watson has been photographing musicians for several generations. He’s shot Bowie, Marley, and Run DMC to name but a few and predominantly all wearing adidas. The World Is Yours celebrates 25 years of music photography taken from the book published by adidas and exhibited at LondonNewcastle Project Space.

This year’s spring auctions at Villa Grisebach Auktionen in Berlin kick off on June 4, 2009 with the sale of Modern and Contemporary photography including a copy of only ten numbered prints that exist of the image of the French First Lady – Carla Bruni, taken by U.S. photographer Pamela Hanson,

alongside photographs by artists such as Roger Ballen, Elger Esser, Axel Hütte, Helmut Newton, Bettina Rheims, Sebastiao Salgado, Frank Thiel.

FUNNY PEOPLE

Funny People is an upcoming 2009 American comedy-drama film, written, co-produced, and directed by Judd Apatow, and starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen as stand-up comedians. The film is scheduled for release August 28th in the UK and as big fans of Judd Apatow we’re looking forward to this release.
